Many Chronic and non-communicable diseases (such as cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases) have been emerged as a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Several of our today behavioural changes make us more likely to develop NCD.
Dr. Georgia Ayfantopoulou opened the meeting. Georgia presented the current project status from the scope of the contractual VS achieved and the key achievements within the first period of the project.

Dr. Georgia Ayfantopoulou, coordinator of the GourMed project and Research Director of the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) at the Center for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), was the moderator of the session and the first speaker who presented selected Business Models and Technology solutions for achieving fair products based on the preliminary findings of the project. Dr. Anagnostis Argyriou from the University of Aegean (UoA) focused on the strong and weak points of development of the Small Actor’s food Supply Chains, while prof. Lotfi Achour, Director of BIOLIVAL, presented ways to transform the traditional Tunisian Rob o carob supply chain into a fair product.

Prof. Antonella Samoggia presented the current status and achievements of WP1 and also the next steps for the upcoming period. They published scientific paper on fairness. The UNIBO team is working on another scientific paper to be published in the next months.
Prof. Notis Argyriou presented the progress of T1.3 & T1.4 afterwards.
Prof. Ioannis Mallidis presented the progress of WP2. The key messages of the submitted D2.1 were presented. The Fair Business Models and the Fair VC characteristics were analyzed.
Prof. Notis Argyriou presented the progress of WP3 afterward. The setup, mapping and analysis of the pilots have been done.
Tamara Ettinger presented the progress of WP4. Some results of the LCA methodology for the Prometeo pilot were presented, highlighting the sustainability impact related to various factors, such as climate change.
Dr. Siwar Ben Ayache presented the progress of WP5. The main achievements so far were highlighted.
Dr. Siwar Ben Ayache made a presentation regarding the Tunisian pilot. It is important to have a sample of the carob syrup in order to make the experiment.

The visit to the premises of “Althaia” association was done on October 14th 2022 at the association’s head quarters in Elatochori village, on Olympus mountain. Notis Argyriou and KostasKoukaras from UoA, Andreas Detzel and Tamara Ettinger from Ifeu, Rolf Weber from HfWU (AB member) and Marianna Giannaki from CERTH/HIT were welcomed at 11:00 a.m. by Anastasia Mpostaniti from the Association of medicinal & aromatic plants of Greece at the Olympus Mountain “Althaia”. The visit to the association was constructive, because we had the possibility to collect valuable information and understand the relationships and links between Althaia and the market and the reasons behind these links.
GourMed participated in the ITC 2023 in Greece. The 6th Infrastructure and Transport Conference, held from September 17-20, 2023, at Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center and the Athens Conservatoire. The total number of online attendees exceeded 10,000. In one of the panels featuring Supply Chain and Logistics experts, the PRIMA GourMed project was represented by the project coordinator, Georgia Ayfantopoulou, Research Director/Deputy Director at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT/CERTH). The discussions focused on the rapidly growing dynamics of freight transport due to the rise of e-commerce. These changes are redefining Business Models and driving significant investments across various sectors, including the agrifood industry.
The 9th International Exhibition, "Supply Chain & Logistics – Cargo Truck & Van Expo" 2023, opened its doors from September 30th to October 2nd, 2023, at the Metropolitan Expo exhibition center in Athens, Greece. The event featured 300 exhibitors from across the market spectrum, all gathered to offer solutions in a 35,000 sq.m. space. In the panel titled "Innovation Moves Logistics Forward," which brought together company executives and academics, the PRIMA GourMed project was represented by its coordinator, Georgia Ayfantopoulou, Research Director/Deputy Director at the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT/CERTH). The experts discussed the latest innovations that are reshaping the landscape of freight transport and logistics.
