ALGAE SA Company was established in 1996 in Therma, Nigrita.

The idea to produce SPIRULINA came earlier in 1992 as a result of 10 years of research, carried out by the faculties of Geology – Geothermy and the Institute of Geological Research of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The investment took place in 1997 as part of the European Program LEADER and has been awarded as the most Innovative Idea in Greece for 1998. Since the year 2000, production is certified by TUV AUSTRIA with EN-ISO 9002.

The area of Nigrita is not only ideal for the production of SPIRULINA, but it is the only area in Greece and the whole of Europe which combines harmonically all the necessary parameters for SPRIRULINA’S plantation. The area’s basic elements are identical to the environment in which the blue-green algae flourish.
